ABOUT US ?

Bicycles Falardeau is a bicycle store that was founded in 1916 in Québec City, Canada, by Henri Falardeau. He handed it over to his son René in the seventies, who in turn let his employee Paul Trépanier take charge in 1991.

Paul has been a cycling enthusiast since 1976, when long distance touring became a major interest for him, as well as  daily use of utilitarian bicycles. Later, road racing bicycles were added to the mix. Mountain bikes, track bikes and tandems also came into the picture at some point. He first bought a frame in 1978 and the first time he designed a bicycle was in 1987.

Now he owns two bicycle stores in Québec City and has been offering bicycles built à la carte since 1997 for customers who prefer to have more control over the end product. Although this process is usually associated with high-end bicycles, most people pay between CAD 600$ and CAD 1100$ for Falardeau branded bicycles.

A passion for riding bicycles is a key to our success. Paul’s employees are known for their bicycle commuting, as well as recreational use of all sorts. Paul’s stable currently includes a gorgeous red lightweight road racer, an impressive and very fast tandem whose main purpose is one-day rides of 175-plus kilometers, a cool black commuter that could do much more than just that and a winter bike with a design that’s quite different from what most winter cyclists tend to use. Add a few bikes that are in less intensive use and that gives you a general idea of what is a constantly evolving team of bicycles.

Since 1974, Paul has traveled in a variety of locations around the world that enabled him to be confronted to all sorts of bicycles. He also acquired perspective by riding for ten years on extremely prestigious italian frames made of different materials.

We currently stock a selection of different types of frames that are offered both wholesale and retail. They are production frames that are not custom-built individually, thus they are much more affordable.
